Port-de-Paix, Haiti, 1/09/99 --- Port-de-Paix has long been considered a free port for smugglers because of its isolated location. Although its only 150 miles from the capital, the trip takes seven long hard hours on dusty rocky roads. Nearby towns on mainland Haiti have had more direct contact with Miami by sea than the capital because of the rutted conditions of the road. Young girls dressed in their Sunday best, stand in their dust filled neighborhood of Port-de-Paix.
