Parishioners who know Dee Nicolai may not know that she is an ethnic Chamorro, a small group of people who are indigenous to Saipan and Guam. Dee grew up on Saipan and lived there until she was 10 years old, when she moved to California.

Other things you may not know about Dee-she loves to cook and bake, she loves to entertain, she is an excellent cook and baker, and she just got a Chamorro cookbook that she wants to try.

Dee has offered to host a Chamorro dinner for 6 people at her lovely house, with the help of her husband, Roger. The winner will coordinate with the Nicolais about the date of the dinner. This is a great opportunity to try a menu that you cannot find in restaurants in the area and that is based on natural ingredients. Talking to Dee will also let you learn more about the history and heritage of the Chamorros of Saipan, where a terrible, key battle took place during WWII.

Dee will not be able to host this dinner until after Easter. She also requires that all people attending be vaccinated, since it will be in her house.
