This piece is a framed, hand-colored print of a vintage sketch from Matt's sketchbook, hand painted with watercolors in 2021 for the VOA Silver Spurs fundraiser. The sketch was done in 2010, overlooking Matt's creative base at SLC's iconic Guthrie Artist Studios and perhaps SLC's most arts-centric block at 2nd East and 2nd South.

This sketch was originally screen printed for street posters in 2011 to promote a Gallery Stroll at Guthrie Studios, and has been out of circulation since that time. The piece depicts the carefree line-work and flow of Matt's earlier work, and also stands as a bit of time capsule, as many of the businesses, buildings, and elements of this block have changed - though thankfully the Guthrie Artist Studios continue on strong. Take special note of the payphone next to Este Pizza, and the old corner of Edison Street for reference on how much a decade changes the look of our urban landscape. What hasn't changed is the need to care for our homeless youth - and Matt hopes this piece will add some further momentum to that important cause.
