Acrylic and ink on gallery canvas by Marsha Carrington

6" x 6"

$100

Marsha has been painting, drawing, photographing or making something ever since she can remember. Her mother, Louise H. Carrington, was a recognized portrait painter, and was a huge inspiration from a very early age. Marsha graduated from James Madison University in 1977 with a BFA in Painting and Graphics, and then graduated from California Institute of the Arts in 1981 with an MFA in Fine Art Photography. While continuing her love of photography, Marsha also worked in Visual Effects Animation for 13 years on films such as Ghost, Braveheart, and James and the Giant Peach, to name a few. She left film in 1996 after working at Disney Studios for 3 years to follow a dream of illustrating children's books. She has illustrated 7 books since that include Jake Johnson, The Story of a Mule, Tessa's Tip-Tapping Toes, Coriander The Contrary Hen, and Go Home Mrs. Beekman. She is presently working on her first book that she is writing and illustrating. Marsha also owned and designed for the greeting and stationery company mjZOOM, which sold nationwide for over 13 years. In 2009 she stopped manufacturing but continues to create greeting cards and home decor products for companies that sell to boutique stores as well as retailers such as Target. After living in LA for over 30 years, Marsha and her husband, Kevin, moved to Sandusky in October of 2009 to be near family. She works from her studio in their home in downtown Sandusky and opened Carrington Arts, a fine art gallery, in October of 2015. She continues to create fine art with painting, drawing and photography. Visit Carrington Arts Gallery for more.
