Dreamy Desert Rose By Lydia Quinones

12" Small Butterfly

This butterfly is a lover, dreamer and poet heart. She enjoys butterfly yoga and the tinkling sound of wind chimes. She prefers a transient lifestyle, traveling the seats in search of adventure in far way places.

This butterfly was inspired by the artists growing desert succulents. She finds that desert vegetation is interesting and looks almost aquatic in form, like a tiny Chihuly garden. The wings are adorned with pink and green Echeveria rosettes amongst the graceful spirals of tiny Albiflora cacti. This butterfly will add serenity to any garden.

About the Artist...

Since moving from China, Lydia Quinones has been an Arizona resident for six years. When she's not teaching high school art, she's focused on ceramics, weaving, and painting for private commissions. Her public paintings, which are recognizable by their bright colors, can be found on benches and parking meters in downtown Phoenix and Glendale. Her art works usually address aspects of Chinese culture or Arizona history, incorporating her experiences of living in Asia with her fascination with the Southwest. In 2020, her butterfly contribution to Flutter at the Fountain received the second highest bid.
