Freeman is a full-time studio artist working in Gainesville, Florida. Ignited by current political culture surrounding women's rights, her work is fueled by gender inequality, the culture of domesticity and her own narrative. Interested in quilt design and textile pattern as ways to reflect the stereotype of female, she juxtaposes these elements with everyday objects found throughout the home. Pivoting between traditional oil painting and mixed media, Amy creates narrative works that engage with identity and memory. Amy has been a professor of art for over twenty years at several colleges and universities. She holds an MFA in painting from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and a BA from the University of Wyoming. Currently, Amy teaches part-time for the University of Florida.
