Courtesy of the artist.
Camlin's paintings and drawings intermingle abstraction with description to explore environmental and geological change. Her recent body of work, Swamp/Garden, combines painting and acrylic transfers to create mashups of wetland vegetation and the detritus of history. Camlin received a Black Lives Matter Grant for this work from the Jordan Schnitzer Foundation in 2021. Camlin's work responding to climate change has linked her to artists and curators with environmental concerns. Her work was featured in New American Painting and was nominated for the 2013 Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Award and the 2015 Contemporary Northwest Art Awards. Camlin was born in Orangeburg, SC. She is Chair and Professor at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.
