Temme received a BA degree from GSU and a MFA from American University. Her socially-conscious work has been the subject of four solo exhibitions and has been included in numerous exhibitions. She was a Fellow at the MacDowell Colony and a Fellow at Hambidge. Barkin-Leeds received the Elizabeth Baaart Biddle Award conferred by the full faculty in the MFA program at American University. She also received the International Education Foundation Scholarship from GSU to study at the Santa Reparata International School in Florence, Italy. She has been juried into NY exhibitions by critics Jerry Saltz, John Yau, and Nancy Princenthal. She was honored by the Georgia Women's History Month Committee and the Georgia Commission on Women. She was the State of Georgia's representative on the Millennium 'Gift to the Nation' Committee of the Friends of Art and Preservation in Embassies in DC. Most recently, she was adjunct professor at Piedmont College.
