About the Item

Cinder block and chains

Cinderblocks, something heavy and usually hidden, become the center of attention in this piece. Recreating the cinder blocks in silver and presenting it as jewelry changes our perception and how we value the mundane. The forced perspective of the block makes it appear bigger than it actually is, in the same way we value diamonds, bigger than they appear. This piece was created on the computer with 3D software, 3D printed in wax and cast in silver. Sterling silver chains, a pin back and a blackening patinawere added to complete the piece.

The cider block is .75" tall, 1.3" wide, and .25" thick. The chains are 6" long.
