Professionally Framed & Signed Print by American Artist Cleon Peterson (b. 1973)
Screenprint in colors on Coventry Rag paper
28 Ã- 43 in | 71.1 Ã- 109.2 cm, Edition of 150
Cleon Peterson is based in Los Angeles, CA, and he has had solo exhibitions in various cities including New York, London, Paris, Sydney, and more. Peterson's works are characterized by a subdued tone and stylized, graphical compositions, but they depict scenes of violence and struggle that could be described as extremely primitive. The artist draws on fine-art influences such as Leon Golub and Paul McCarthy, as well as the aesthetics of Greek pottery, graphic design, and political propaganda posters. His striking compositions feature characters packed into dense, kinetic scenes of high-contrast conflict. Peterson works with a spare color palette, often limiting himself to black, white, red, and yellow. His work has drawn five-figure prices on the secondary market. By explicitly depicting acts of violence, Peterson hopes to highlight the overreach of authoritarian power in contemporary society.
