Our museum hosts special exhibitions by international, national, as well as local and regional artists in our Stott Explorers Gallery. Often these artists are generous enough to donate select pieces from their shows and private collections to help support the museum.

This orginal art piece was created by Jim Sallenbach for a collaborative show entitled An Artistic View of Martin & Osa Johnson's World. As part of this exhibition, Sallenbach channeled the exotic locations explored by Martin and Osa Johnson and expressed them in creative pieces of paper art, sculpture and mixed media collages.

This mixed media work on paper created by Jim focuses on the art of Nazca Lines. It is 14 7/8" by 18 5/8."

Artist Background Brief:

Jim Sallenbach, a self-taught, mixed media artist, describes his own art succinctly as "If I drew a tree, it would not look like a tree." He takes ordinary and often discarded objects and turns them into thought-provoking individual pieces of art. Jim's prolific works have been exhibited in Kansas and California.
He focuses primarily on sculptures in 2D and 3D using paper, found and re-purposed objects, as well as canvas and board.
