More information from the donor:

A protected marine park and surrounded by mountains - there are plenty of activities to fill your day. Our home is located in the Founder's Village and because safety is always a concern, rest assured they go to extreme measures to ensure the safety and security of its residents complete with its own on-site Police Station. If it's adventure you're looking for, less than 50 feet from our home you will find Maria's Charter Service. A wonderful English-speaking friend of ours who is happy to accommodate whatever activity you're looking for. Whether it's sport fishing for Dorado or yellow-fin tuna (to name just a few); or perhaps a sight-seeing tour of the beautiful Coronado Island with its aqua blue waters and its own resident colony of sea lions. Because of the marine park's protection, you'll undoubtedly run into schools of playful dolphins or perhaps you'll spot a loggerhead turtle. For those who'd rather see life under the sea, Maria's can accommodate your expedition or you can chose from among 3 or 4 dive shops located downtown near the marina. The Sea of Cortez is also home to many great reefs for shallow dives and snorkeling.

For those who'd rather keep their feet on land, take an ATV and guide into the mountains where you can see the Mission of San Javier that was built over 350 years ago.

Or, if sight-seeing and shopping are your thing, take a 10 minute drive downtown to visit Loreto's historical sites such as the Church built in 1697 and still holds mass and other ceremonial events like weddings. Plus the many shops that carry treasures ranging from beautiful silver (at great prices) to local artisans that produce authentic hand-made rugs, and hand-painted pottery and accessories for the home. Plus so much more.

And finally, while your downtown you can scope out the many different restaurants and venues to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine. Most have their menus posted outside their door so, depending on your mood, your options range from open street-side vendors offering tamales and tacos; or you may prefer an upscale, white napkin experience. It's all there. And when the check comes, your first instinct might be that they've made a mistake in your favor. But, no mistake. Amazing food at a price that will amaze you!

Many guests visiting Loreto prefer to spend their days winding down and basking in the warmth of the sun which - by the way - shows itself in full glory just about every day (there's only 13-14 days of rain a year)! Our village has 4 pools, one of which is an Olympic sized lap pool about 20 steps from our door (though you don't have to do laps to enjoy it); and further down the street is a more traditional pool and setting made for lounging in and out of the water. There is also a pool at the Loreto Inn which charges a minimal amount to use it and its workout facilities. There are great places onsite for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you prefer staying close to home. And the wine bar is the perfect place to end your day offering great tapas, music and a chance to meet the neighbors.
