Gil Golde studied at the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts, this country's oldest art school. His first job was as a cartoonist at the Max Fleischer Studio, producing in-between drawings for Popeye the Sailor and Betty Boop. He later became a photographer specializing in portraiture and framing and designed and manufactured bed and bath items for Lucite. Golde continued to paint and draw almost until the day he died in 2015, one month shy of his 102nd birthday.
