Bugling Elk Vineyard and Winery is owned and operated by an Active Duty Green Beret, SGM Shawn Kauffman. Shawn Started this vineyard in Penrose, CO in, May 2018. He planted just over 1400 vines of Malbec and has since added Cabernet Franc and Riesling to his vineyard. Shawn's vision is to keep his vineyard growing and establish a fully operating Winery by 2022. He also sees a potential cultural change in Penrose that is not in-line with how Penrose came about. Shawn is trying to steer a culture back to a more agricultural based community that can last generations to come.

Currently, the wine that is being auctioned is a 70% Merlot and a 30% Malbec from 2019 palisade Grapes. This is the first batch of wine ready for distribution and Shawn wanted SFF to auction off the first case of 10th Group labeled wine so we're able to raise money for our GB brothers and families who have been lost loved ones or have serious injuries following years of war.

Shawn also runs a non-profit, 'Veterans Serving the Homefront' (VSH) which enables SMs to give back to a community whether it be a sports event or running a back-to-school event for kids 18 and younger. VSH shows that SMs who return from Overseas still have more to give back, especially Green Berets to their surrounding communities or where they might have grown up at. Both of Shawn's endeavors truly show the drive of a Man, Husband, Father, and Green Beret who just wants to make our communities a better place.
