A Walk Through History

** Special Bonus!! With many thanks to Sherry & Bob O'Donnell, this walk will now include a very special visit inside the former home of Breslin Park's most famous resident, Miss Lotta Crabtree. Beautifully restored, the cottage Lotta's mother had designed for her by the famous American architect Frank Furness and presented as a gift in 1885, is a must see. This is a rare opportunity to see one of the lake's most beautiful homes and learn its history.**

The single most important factor in Lake Hopatcong's rise as a great resort was the construction of the Hotel Breslin in 1887. The hotel was encircled by elegant cottages, many of which still stand today in Mount Arlington. The development, known as Breslin Park, hosted leaders of industry, the most famous actress of her generation, and even the Vice-President of the United States. Easy-paced, 90-minute narrated walk on flat terrain, led by President of the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum, Marty Kane.

On Sunday, October 10th we will meet at the Mount Arlington Borough Hall at 2:00pm.
