Nikolai and Simon Haas, known collectively as The Haas Brothers, are emerging contemporary artists who live and work in Los Angeles. They have become internationally known for their beaded beasts, innovative ceramics, and other fantastical works of art. While their artistic practice has always been rooted in drawing, their drawings have never been released to the public and are not available, with the exception of this work given to the Katonah Museum of Art via Board Trustee Thomas Rom, a collaborator and friend of the artists. The work at auction, "Cheetah, 2016" displays the humor and unique imagination that typifies their work in a wide variety of media. Their work may be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art among others. Their work will exhibited for the first time with masterworks dating from the 16th century to the present at the Katonah Museum of Art in Constant Carnival: The Haas Brothers in Context, on view March 13 - June 26, 2022.
