full-day sea kayak expedition for two people to see local wildlife, including resident bottlenose dolphins.

The day begins under the shaded canopy of grand oaks at the Farmhouse at Kiawah River, an island village in the Charleston countryside. Heading down to nearby Bobcat Landing, everyone will be fitted to gear and given a short lesson in sea kayaking.

From there the adventure begins. Glide through a maze of salt marsh and tidal flats, keeping an eye out for the abundant wildlife that calls this ecosystem home. Expect to see gregarious pods of bottlenose dolphins and myriad birds: herons, eagles, roseate spoonbills and more.

Following a 4-5 mile paddle (timed with the tides for an enjoyable experience), we'll beach on Captain Sam's Spit for a well-deserved break. This small shifting island of sand is vital for many important or endangered species including piping plovers, diamondback terrapins and bottlenose dolphins.
