Three magnums for your post-COVID celebrations:

Rodney Strong 2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

2018 Hartford Court Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley MAGNUM

Value: $80

95 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Starting with the 2018 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley, which comes from multiple sites and was brought up in 27% new French oak, it has a vivid ruby hue to go with classic Russian River notes of mulled cherry and raspberry fruits, cola, spice box, and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, round, and beautifully textured, it's a totally charming, balanced, elegant Pinot Noir that punches way above its weight."

94 Points Wine Enthusiast - Editor's Choice: "This is an outstanding wine for the price, made from a majority of estate-grown grapes across the appellation. Given 10 months in French oak, 27% of it new, it is designed to be delicious out the gate, with a lush opulence that is soft, broad and supple across the palate. Plummy and brimming in dark cherry and cola, it finishes with moderate structure and baking spice."

Winemaker's Tasting Notes: Aromas of black cherry, allspice, black currant and loam are followed by flavors of wild raspberries, dark berries and a crushed rock minerality. The dense entry is followed by a sweet and juicy mouth feel, supported by acidity, silky tannins and a subtle earthy finish.

2017 Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County MAGNUM

Value: $52

91 Points Wine Spectator; 90 Points Jeb Dunnuck; 90 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

FROM THE WINERY: Every vintage, we harvest multiple diverse lots of Zinfandel that span the entire Sonoma County Zinfandel landscape. Each of these lots is produced under the careful eyes of winemaker Andy Robinson. The best of these lots are selected to make Sonoma Zinfandel. A small amount of Petite Sirah is added to honor century old traditions and to provide color and structure. The result is a wine that offers tantalizing raspberry, blueberry, classic briary and spicy flavors with a balance of components for which Seghesio wines are known.

VINEYARDS: A blend comprised of Zinfandel from vineyards in Russian River, Dry Creek and Alexander valleys.

BLEND: 87% Zinfandel, 9% Petite Sirah, 2% Carignane, 1% Syrah and 1% mixed reds.

TASTING NOTES: Aromas of wild blueberry, briary raspberry patch and baking spice give way to a palate of juicy, ripe blackberry and black plum. Soft tannins, a rich mouthfeel and focused acidity lead to a long finish, creating a delightful wine to pair with red sauces, pizza, and barbeque, as well as sopressata and dry jack.

90 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "This estate has turned out a delicious 2017 Zinfandel Sonoma, and it has plenty of classic Zinfandel blue fruits, spice, cigar, and cedary aromas in a medium to full-bodied, pleasure-bent style. This is rock solid and a perfect barbecue wine to enjoy over the coming 2-4 years."

90 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The medium ruby colored 2017 Zinfandel Sonoma County is scented of spiced peaches, warm raspberries, blueberries and potpourri with notes of cinnamon, dried leaves and exotic spices. The palate is medium to full-bodied, soft and lush with juicy acidity and a long, flavorful finish. This is an easy-drinking but nonetheless delicious Zinfandel and a great value."
