94 Points Wine Spectator: "Light and zingy, dripping with gorgeous raspberry, strawberry and floral flavors, weaving in strong mineral notes as the finish gains momentum. A hint of pepper informs the aftertaste. Drink now through 2023."

Zena Crown Vineyard is located in the southern end of the Eola-Amity Hills in the Willamette Valley. Comprised of 115 acres divided into 48 distinct blocks, Winemaker Shane Moore crafts four small-lot Pinot Noirs-one for each season, to capture the vineyard's changing moods and expressions just as if it were a living, breathing thing.

Amassed from multiple vineyard blocks and clones, this wine has a timeless beauty that can be inherently understood by innate human nature. Wines of this stature, much like great art, reflect the complex and compelling relationship between humanity and Earth. Expressing autumn, (The Sum) leads with briar patch, lightly roasted coee and grandmother's perfume on the nose, with Nutella, choke cherry and fennel bulb flavors. Driving tight acidity rings like a tuning fork through this wine that is shaped like a wide brimmed hat. 50% whole-cluster fermentation bolsters the wine, sustaining the tannic imprint and crunchy texture, like dry autumn leaves, lingering as a sort of familiar, can't-quite-place-it ambient noise.

2015 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville MAGNUM

Value: $130

93 Points Decanter; 92 Points James Suckling; 91 Points Vinous

2015 was another great vintage for Growth Oakville Cabernet.

Cabernet Sauvignon 85 %, Merlot 15%

Aged in French oak barrels for 22 months, 40% new French Oak

Winemaker tasting notes: Aromas of cassis, ripe red cane berries, and warm vanilla beans, along with a hint of cedar draw you in, inviting that first sip. The palate entry is full and lush with juicy black plum, red currant and a hint of dried cherries. The abundant fin-grained tannins give a full mouthfeel that is complimented by sweet vanilla notes mid-palate, and a bright acidity throughout. Leading into a warm, spicy and persistent finish.

Menu suggestion: Simply seasoned lamb chops well seared on the grill or a good old-fashioned juicy hamburger will be excellent companions for this big red wine. If meat isn't for you, this Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon will also pair beautivully with a rich wild mushroom risotto

93 Points Decanter: "Deep, concentrated nose bursting with ripe black fruit concentration and herbal undertones. Fresh fruit palate, with a touch of oak spice and violets."

92 Points James Suckling: "This shows real interest on the nose with fresh blackcurrants, ivy, tea leaf, vanilla, cloves and peppermint. Freshness comes through aplenty on the palate, which is full-bodied with structured if chewy tannins, some pretty acidity and a driven finish."

91 Points Vinous: "Groth's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful, hearty wine with good depth and density, but very much in the classic, mid-weight Groth style. Dark cherry, pomegranate, smoke, tobacco, menthol, licorice and dried flowers are nicely delineated in this attractive, expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. Give the 2015 a few years in bottle for the tannin to soften."
