Minature Rushton Design Canoe
The Canton, NY designer/builder John Henry Rushton ( 1843-1906 ) originally designed this Guide boat . J. H. Rushton's highly evolved craft of Adirondack guide-boat construction has made him one of the most recognized names in Adirondack boatbuilding. Whether you were a "sport" from the city or a seasoned guide under the employ of said sport this boat would have served you well as you plied the waters of the Adirondacks. Measuring 29 inches inches in length , A master craftsman handcrafted this highly detailed wood scale model from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plans. The model was built to scale with high-grade woods such as: western red cedar , and mahogany. 100% hand built, using plank-on-frame construction . This model required at least 25 hours to complete , you can find the ribs inside the Guide boat along with the typical planking. The natural wood finish really brings out the character of a wooden Guide boat. This model rests on a hardwood stand and includes two oars.
