The Rosetta chair is a true historic chair from England during the 1880's. This era is known as the late Victorian era. Chairs during this period have common features such as the sling/spoon back. This type of back is known to be extraordinarily strong and durable. Other features include intricate carving and Victorian baluster legs. The 1880's were the core period of the second Industrial Revolution. Most western counties experienced a large economic boom, due to the mass production of railroads and other more convenient methods of travel. Inventions include the phonographs, electric lighting and cars. Popularity peaked for music halls and Art Noveau style appears. The Rosetta chair wood was in excellent condition and was stained to a darker brown and new upholstery with a rosette motif similar to that on the chair back was chosen.
