HISTORY
The building that is now The Sheridan Livery Inn and Restaurant originally opened in 1887 as John Sheridan's stable and carriage service. John was an Irish immigrant who became a prominent and respected Lexington businessman, and the Sheridan name remains in several businesses and buildings around town in his honor. With the rise of the automobile in the early 1900s, demand for Sheridan's stable and carriage service declined and he eventually sold the building. In the following years, the Sheridan building became Rockbridge Steam Laundry, and then later the Old Main Street Indoor Mall.

HISTORIC CHARM DOWN TO THE DOORKNOBS.
The Sheridan Livery Inn & Restaurant has undergone extensive renovations to add modern amenities (aka wifi, running water, you know; the works) to this 1887 livery stable once owned by John Sheridan. The now retired owners Ugo and Gina Benincasa have taken extra care to freshen up the property while still preserving the colonial-style charms of the 1800's. The large rooms boast 12 ft. ceilings, heavy mahogany doors, and windows with breathtaking views of downtown Lexington. Read more about our history here.
