My desk started out as an old desk that my mom had in her beauty shop. It was not in the best shape so I took the top off and sanded the metal and painted it . The top was a piece of Red Heart Cypress that was extracted from the ogeechee river swamp in south Jenkins county in the early 80s .My grandfather extracted the cypress trees and had them sawed into lumber in midville. We had the piece of cypress stored in the grain bin so I figured it would make a pretty desk top . I sanded the top and decided that it would be pretty to varnish it so I did and it turned out beautiful .(the cypress board has been here for longer than most anyone's life span so it's a piece of history and rare to find things this pretty :)
