A Delightful Pairing from Château de Cayx.

Owned by the Danish royal family since 1974, located in Lot Valley's most stunning location. The château's history is inextricably linked with the region's own history, particularly that of Luzech, the local area. The vines around the château produce sophisticated wines and are also testament to wine being made in the area since ancient times, as the Cahors vineyard was founded by the Romans and is one of France's oldest (over two thousand years old).

Les Marches De Cayx

CAHORS Appellation D'Origene Protegee 2012

Made from Malbec grape planted in the clay and limestone terrasses surrounding the Chateu de Cayx domain in the Cahors region - homestead to His Royal Highness the Prince of Denmark - this wine subtly reveals its round and palatable nuances. Served slightly chilled, it will prove an ideal accompaniment to roasted meat or goat cheese.

La Cigaralle - Chardonnay

Chateau de Cayx 2012

A local wine from Cayx, La Cigaralle comes from the 4 hectares of Chardonnay planted, mostly on the limestone terraces around the château.

A local wine from Cayx, La Cigaralle comes from the 4 hectares of Chardonnay planted, mostly on the limestone terraces around the château. "Cigaralle" is an old word probably from Catalan and used in Aquitaine and Occitanie to describe a pavilion built in a park or a pleasure garden where you can hear the song of cicadas.

The grapes undergo mechanical harvesting, direct pressing, cold settling, thermo-regulated fermentation in stainless steel vats and aging on the lees.

The first nose is very fresh revealing citrus fruits, lemon and pink grapefruit with notes of litchi. Ideal as an aperitif, with seafood and shellfish.

H.R.H Prince Henrik has been progressively replanting the original vineyard mainly with the traditional vines of Cahors such as Malbec, Merlot and Tannat. The all estate grown vines have an average age of 25 years and demand excellent reviews in France and abroad.
