4 Handmade Wooden Ornaments

4 Bird House Themed, Handturned Wooden Ornaments made from Colorado woods.
Inspired by the works of Dale Nish, but created specifically for Denver Audubon by Master Birder Curt Frankenfeld, you'll love these ornaments turned on a wood lathe by hand, some with flat-sawn and hand-planed parts.

The three Colorado woods in these ornaments are Beetle-kill Lodgepole Pine, Quaking Aspen, and Box Elder. Some woods were harvested with a firewood permit, and others purchased from local sawmills. The color woods used in these Ornaments are Padauk and Ebony. Padauk is a fast-growing, relatively common and inexpensive wood from Africa and is sustainably harvested. The Ebony has been passed down from woodworker to woodworker for many years. It originated as scrap wood from a piano factory, probably in the mid-20th century and is treasured by the craftsman.

A bamboo species is used in one of the designs - Tonkin Cane. It is wonderfully sustainable and leftovers are readily available in the woodworker's shop from another of his passions, building bamboo flyrods. The hexagonal design of that ornament is inspired by the design and build process of these flyrods.

All of the ornaments are hollow to some degree to control weight so they can be easily used on a Christmas tree or find a year-round place in your home where they'll bring joy and a sense of whimsy.

This item can be carefully packed and shipped provided winner pays additional priority mail pricing.
