Dawn Poulterer Woods - I grew up in a home that values art. My father, Bruce Poulterer, is a watercolor artist who encouraged all of us to cultivate our creative side. Though a business man by trade, my dad comes alive when sitting outside working on a painting, reading art books, trying out new techniques, and wandering The Brandywine River Museum of Art. When we were kids heading out on family summer road trips for vacation, we were each given a new sketch book. "Pay attention, and see what you can find to sketch." We filled the pages. In the last few years I have jumped fully into watercolor. Thanks to my dad who bought me a number of rounds of art lessons from Karl Kuerner on site at the Kuerner Farm in Chadd's Ford, I was given the push and inspiration needed. It is a relaxing and meaningful use of my time. I love wandering The Brandywine Art Museum as well and am captivated by the stories of the Wyeths who have been the primary inspiration for my father and me. I am also a lover of humpback whales! Strange, but true...ever since I went whale watching off the coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts in 1988. I have since seen them in Massachusetts three times and Alaska twice.
