CHRISTIAN TABER I am a DC father with two children both now at the upper campus. I have a dream job where I get paid to make art with the upper school students.

I studied at Tyler School of Art majoring in painting, drawing and sculpture. During my time studying at Tyler I worked several jobs to increase my skills and pay my bills. I worked for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program as well as the ARTIVA Program (Mural Arts in NC) learning several processes for creating large-scale murals and installations. At that point I married my better half and transitioned my attention to the housing market. My wife and I renovated several properties while learning more about general carpentry, beginners electric/plumbing and interior design. The house buyers usually commented on how unique and creative the spaces I renovated were.

Amidst the construction I made time to make art whether it was sculpture made from recycled construction materials, canvas painting or crafting with my children. While painting has been the medium I have used mostly for my artistic expression, I also gravitate towards printmaking, mixed-media work, and sculpture. I like to use recycled and natural materials like stone and wood and only recently, ceramics thrown on the pottery wheel. There is no greater feeling than being in the midst of creating.
