Barbara Hanselman - I started my own venture in clay 30 years ago and soon grew to be identified by my hand built whimsical pots. My clay work has been acknowledged with awards at Strictly Functional Pottery Nationals and the Pennsylvania Guild Exhibitions in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Lark Books chose two of my bowls to appear in their 2003 publication, "500 Bowls" and selected the transfer printed bowl, "What's in a Word?" to appear in their 2006 publication, "Image Transfer on Clay." In 2012 Bead Trends Magazine published my eight page tutorial on The Double Heart Clay & Copper Bracelet Project; my tutorial on making 2-part ceramic clay necklaces appeared in Belle Armoire Jewelry, Fall 2015. Today I am a self proclaimed Claysmith by trade, hand forming earthenware and stoneware into whatever it wants to be. Making beads from leftover clay scraps also began early on. Then my beads begged to be their own creative expressions & Clay-to-Wear became part of my repertoire. I offer workshops and classes at art centers and bead shops in the tri-state area and my work is at several galleries in New Jersey and Pennsylvania as well.

CLAY - I LOVE where it takes me.....

Stoneware clay, found objects to include tree bark and deer antler. This free form stoneware tray has been accented with found natural objects - an interesting curl of tree bark and a partial deer antler - but these in no way curtail it's usefulness as a conveyor of edible treats or letters awaiting your response. What an interesting conversation piece for your cocktail table or office!
