Ed Clark B Pen Garden Bench - Reuse, Recycle, Relax

The Wildlife Center's B Pens are integral to housing smaller raptors, like Eastern Screech-owls and falcons, as they recover, rehabilitate, and prepare for return to the wild. These pens have a storied past - they were originally constructed by Center President Ed Clark in the 1980s, when the Center was in Weyers Cave. In 1995, these pens were painstakingly dismantled and reconstructed at the Center's current site in Waynesboro, where they have stood since that time, sheltering and protecting many hundreds of raptors.

As part of the Center's ongoing Great Rebuild, these original B Pens have been torn down and have been replaced with a new structure. But Ed has salvaged just enough of the pressure-treated wood from these iconic enclosures for one last project -- Ed has built a one-of-a-kind Wildlife Center garden bench to memorialize the roles these enclosures play in the Center's lifesaving work. While sitting in this garden bench, you will feel the wild spirit of the raptors who were sheltered by this wood, as they recovered from their injuries and regained their ability to be free.
