Created by Charlottesville artisan Julie Olsen. The pattern is by Justin Behnke, altered a bit to fit this size.
Much of Julia's work is abstract, but she's chosen to donate a piece that relates to the Wildlife Center, showcasing an animal native to Virginia.
The sky glass is a Youghiogheny Glass product called Stipple Glass, where two or three colors are streaked together. The glass is translucent and the effect of light behind it creates an almost 3D effect that is magical.
The technique used is copper foil rather than leaded. The border was made by twisting lead with a drill.
14.5" diameter
This item will be available for pick-up at the Wildlife Center or will be shipped, at cost, via UPS, to the winning bidder. If you're the winning bidder, we will contact you by email about your shipping and pick-up options by Monday, October 25.
