Mahjong Set and Wooden Carrying Case

This exquisite Chinese mahjong set is the perfect blend of bright colors and restrained elegance and will be a hit at any mahjong party. The tiles are engraved with Chinese characters and kept in a beautiful wooden box that keeps everything organized in lined trays.

Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, cooperation, and luck that evolved in Shanghai in the 19th century and became popular in the U.S. in the 1920's.

The game is played with a set of 144 tiles with Chinese characters and symbols - 36 circles, 36 bamboos, 36 Chinese characters, 12 dragons, 16 winds, and 8 flowers and seasons.

The translucent emerald green tiles in this set have a good feel and weight. This handsome set comes in a Redwood veneer wooden case that measures 15" x 10" and includes three dice, a wooden wind indicator, and a set of scoring sticks. Racks and pushers are not included.

Instructions on How to Play Chinese Mahjong are included. You will soon be calling, "Chow," "Pung," "Kong," and . . . . "Mahjong!"
