A Getaway to Cape Cod

Five days at the Sandwich, Massachusetts Summer home of Lucia Bogatay, a remodeled 18th Century cottage at 15 Harbor Street at Boardwalk, across from the Town Landing in the Jarvesville Historic District. Jarves owned the Sandwich Glass Factory, closed in the 1880's which was nearby. One hour by car from Boston. The house has two connecting apartments, each with bath and kitchen. It has views of the marsh across the street.

Option for 1) The studio annex with kitchen and bath, queen-sized bed (sleeps two), and bay window seat (can sleep one). Or 2) Later (when soon-to-be completed renovation is finished) it could include the entire house ( and accommodate up to four more people, potentially). The old portion of house has two bedrooms, bath, kitchen, living room and dining room.

The historic boardwalk leading to the beach on Cape Cod Bay is a fifteen-minute walk. Try plunging into the Marsh at high tide (from the town dock). Rent a kayak to explore the marsh. Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod and has wonderful historic sites. Walk along Jarves Street to Main Street for restaurants and the historic center. The Town Pond has an historic grist mill, and nearby is the Sandwich Glass Museum. Visit Hoxie House (in season), a 1670's house on the Pond. The Heritage Plantation has hundreds of rhododendrons, old cars, and walks. Walk along the Cape Cod Canal with views of bridges and passing ships, sea food, and the Cape Code Canal Visitor Center. Timing is flexible. Expires in three years, or by arrangement.
