A group of up to eight will be invited to the Dominican community's 5:30 p.m. Vespers service in the priory chapel. Afterwards, your party will join Fr. Michael O'Connor, O.P., and a few members of the schola which he directs, for a wine and cheese reception in the PFIC Board Room. Fr. O'Connor will give a presentation on Gregorian chant and why it has pride of place in the Church's tradition of liturgical music. The talk will include demonstrations of chant by Fr. O'Connor and a few members of the schola.
Fr. O'Connor is an Instructor in Moral Theology at the PFIC. Prior to entering the Order, he worked as a church musician and as an editor of the St. Michael Hymnal, in which some of his compositions appear.
Event to be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date during the school year (when the schola is available). Must take place by April 2, 2022.
