This pair of hand-colored engravings of a chicken is from Sir William Jardine, Scottish naturalist. (11 inches by 9 inches with dark brown frame.) Sir William Jardine (Born 1800 - Died 1874) was the eldest son of Sir Alexander Jardine. He was born in Edinburgh and was educated at Edinburgh High School, after which he became a medical student at the University of Edinburgh. His art has influenced and continues to influence the print market.
