FAQs

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL EVENT?
Since Stamford Symphony is not presenting any live concerts this fall and winter, our online broadcasts are a new way to enjoy the Orchestra with more opportunities to get up close and personal with our musicians, Music Director Michael Stern and special guests.  Included in these events you will find more social and historical context and interaction with Michael Stern including a live chat.

WHY IS THE ONLINE PREMIERE FREE?
Typically, all our events would be ticketed.  This year, thanks to all our generous donors, sponsors and loyal subscribers who have continued to subscribe with us through the season new and old, Stamford Symphony is able to provide music to everyone virtually and free of charge. We believe that music can heal in times of stress and our goal is not to limit who can access the music but to share it with everyone in the community, and indeed around the world, who need it right now.

In lieu of purchasing tickets we do hope you will consider a donation. Your contribution will help us continue to provide more online events for everyone to enjoy. No donation is too small. The Stamford Symphony is grateful for your support!

WHAT TIME DOES SUBLIME SERENADES START?
The online premiere starts at 7:30pm on Saturday April 17th.  All pre-registered guests will receive an email reminder the day of the event with a direct link to watch the concert.  If you cannot find your email, no worries - just join us at www.stamfordsymphony.org after 7pm. A YouTube window will appear and all you need to do is hit the "play' button.

We recommend logging on a little early to be sure that you will not miss a minute of the premiere and give you time to resolve any potential technical difficulties!

TECHNICAL TIPS

WHAT TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS DO I NEED?
A computer with a reliable WIFI network is all you should need.  We recommend an Internet speed of 50 MBPS for optimal viewing.

WHAT DEVICE WILL YOU CHOOSE TO WATCH THE ONLINE PREMIERE?

Watching the online premiere on your computer is preferable to watching it on your mobile phone, though it is possible to watch the online premiere from a computer, tablet or phone.

CAN I CAST THE ONLINE PREMIERE TO MY TV?

Watch the performance on a large screen! Want to cast your event on TV?  This is  doable with an HDMI cord from your computer to the TV.

Virtually all TVs purchased in the last decade have this port. Most laptops purchased in the last six to seven years have this port as well. Connect the TV and laptop using an HDMI cable. Commute to the input selection menu on your TV and select the input you just connected to. Your laptop screen should now be mirrored on your TV.

You can also connect the online premiere to your TV by connecting your laptop or smart device via a Firestick, Chromecast, smart TV or other streaming entertainment device. If you have a YouTube account and have it linked to a google or amazon account this will be possible. On any device, click this icon near the bottom right corner of the YouTube video to select options for "play on TV." This allows you to control the video player via your smart device or computer/laptop but view wirelessly on your TV. Once clicked, a menu will show you if you have any connectable streaming devices in range. Tutorials for connecting streaming device like Amazon Firestick, Chromecast etc. are available online.

Whichever way you consider casting to your TV, we recommend you do a test run prior to the online premiere.
