W.O.H. by Sharif Bey
Sharif Bey is from Beltzhoover, a neighborhood on the south side of Pittsburgh and his work can be found in public collections around the world including The Smithsonian American Art Museum and The Carnegie Museum of Art among many others. His ceramic and mixed-media works reflect his interest in the visual heritage of Africa and Oceania, as well as contemporary African American culture. Sharif was an idea furnace artist in residence at PGC recently producing a new body of work that will be on display in a solo exhibition Carnegie Museum of Art opening in October 2021.
