6 bottles of Bellagaia wine-

The Wine Tech Notes:

The 2014 Bellagaia is a terrific blend of 65% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The results are surprisingly complex and profound, although the wine's best asset is the fresh and straightforward approach it makes, especially on the palate. That inner depth will give this wine some proper aging potential I should expect. This vintage shows lots of tension and dimension. The 2014 offers superb aromatic intensity, vibrant fruit, and exceptional balance.

The history

Domenico La Fratta and Zaido Picchi became fast friends in the Church Hill area of Richmond when they both arrived from Italy with their wives around 1895. Their kids eventually married and Adelinda and Felix brought the family together. Eventually, Zaido went back to Tuscany around 1913 and managed the vines in the family village. Zaido did not bottle wine and instead, he produced grapes, must, and juice. While those vines are still growing, the vineyards were neglected for many years and were not positioned to grow superior grapes.

The continuation of family wine:

Sharron and Charles La Fratta first bought a house near the family village in 2002 with the idea of rehabilitating the production of grapes. After making friends with the woman who spearheaded the Ornelaia Brand from its inception, we were convinced to look a bit further south to establish a wine that would please the pallet of both traditional and new world wine drinkers.

Our wines are grown and created in Greve in Chianti. This climate is perfect for the production of bold and intense wine with subtle nuances that will delight, with or without food.

Charles and Sharron lived in the US, Western Europe, and Asia working in over 85 countries. This adventure led us to seek wines of distinction, of superior quality, and limited quantity. We found that combination difficult at an affordable price, so we set out to make an affordable wine that drinks like a wine twice as expensive. We have had the distinct honor to work with celebrated wine consultant Attilio Pagli who truly believes in the relationship between the earth and the finished product. Our flagship wine Bella Gaia translates loosely to Beautiful Earth.

We hope you will enjoy the wines as much as we do. They are perfect with food, friends, or a delightful day in the park.

Our family motto:

'A TAVOLA NON S'INVECCHIA': AT THE TABLE, ONE DOES NOT GROW OLD
