Artist Chantal Sulkow has painted and drawn her entire life. A life-long New Yorker, Chantal studied illustration and portrait painting at The School of Visual Arts, and participated in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Copyist Program, where she had the invaluable experience of making a number of old master copies on site. After her time at SVA, she continued her studies, taking classes and workshops at the Art Students League, and painting from life at every opportunity.

Chantal worked as a commercial artist for many years, founding her own painting studio serving the toy industry, and then later earned a graduate degree to become an art librarian. She spent several years working in museums, libraries and archives, assisting art history scholars in their research, and working to develop art historical library collections. Throughout this journey, Chantal never stopped missing fine art painting; she always knew she would return to creating art. Now, after a hiatus, she has resumed pursuing her passion.
