Sailing the Great Lakes

(estimated value: $150)

This unique weaving recalls a lazy summer day on the shores of the Great Lakes. The base of this water image was created by weaving various colors and textures of yarns, and it was enhanced with the character of pastel threads and trims. A distant sailboat completes the lovely scene.

This professionally framed art piece (finished size is 13-3/4" x 10-7/8") was designed and created by Marlene Brown Woodfield, a nationally known fabric artist. She has received countless awards in competitions across the country, and her quilts have been featured in books, magazines, calendars, and other publications. Marlene has two quilts in the Indiana State Museum permanent collection (Indianapolis, IN), one quilt in the founder's collection at the National Quilt Museum (Paducah, Kentucky), and three quilts in the online collection of Archive of Folk Culture, American Folklife Center, Library of Congress (Washington, D.C.). Marlene has lived with CLL for 33+ years and is also a 20+ year breast cancer survivor. She was a part of the clinical trial for Imbruvica and knows firsthand the importance of research to fight cancer. She is pleased to donate this piece to support ResearcHERS.
