Artist bio:

Amy Sarner Williams is a professional artist, living and working in Philadelphia PA. She spent almost her entire career in the field of ceramic art - teaching, creating and exhibiting. In 1994 she joined the development staff at The Clay Studio in Old City Philadelphia. She knew the organization well, having been one of its early resident artists and instructors and later a member of the Board of Directors and Board Chair. In 2001 she became its Executive Director and, during her ten years of leadership, doubled its organizational capacity and increased its financial strength. She left the staff in 2011 to refocus on her family and her personal artistic expression.

She continues her ceramic work as a member of Black Hound Clay Studio in West Philadelphia. In the Covid summer of 2020, while quarantining at her family's cabin in western Maine, she began a new artistic exploration, working with natural materials she found on her property and on walks in the woods, to create collages. The inspiration for her work has always come from the beauty of the natural world and the sense of wonder awakened through personal connection with the landscape.
