Sand's Florist & Gifts presents alovely pottery hippo for this auction item from Coontown Pottery in Oxford, MS.

Coontown Pottery is a husband and wife team that makes functional stoneware pottery. Chad Brown is a self taught potter, his wife Anna Brown has learned her pottery skills under his instruction. Chad and Anna started Coontown Pottery to have an outlet for their artistic expression.

Coontown Pottery was named after Coontown Crossing which is a park in Oxford, MS located at Sardis Lake. Coontown Crossing is close to where their pottery is made.
Their glaze color is called Southwest Pass. Southwest Pass is where the Mississippi River meets the Gulf. Their glaze color captures their love for the State of Mississippi and the Ocean.

The winner of this auction item can proudly display an original Coontown hippo as a conversational piece.

For a little extra chatting... Did you know hippos are very protective animals? The dominant male of each group fiercely protects his family. These amazing animals are not only the second largest land roamers (first place goes to elephants), but they can hold their breath for five minutes!

This item will be available for pick-up at St. Mary's School starting Tuesday, Feb. 16. Pick-up details will be sent once the auction closes.
