Escape to Darby, Montana for breathtaking views of the Bitterroot Valley and the West Fork River. Just 2 hours south of Missoula, once you leave highway 93 you will enjoy a beautiful 26-mile drive along the winding West Fork River passing Painted Rocks Reservoir. You may encounter Moose, Deer, Elk, Bighorn Sheep, Bald Eagles and other magnificent wildlife along the way. When you arrive at your 5-acre mountain retreat, you may find the same species of wildlife wandering through the Ponderosa Pines surrounding the property. Your newly remodeled log cabin vacation home and guest cabin will sleep up to eight people! The main house is a 2,000 sq. ft. 2 bedroom/2 bath retreat and features a queen size bed in the master and two twins in the guest bedroom. The detached guest cabin has one bedroom and one bath with a king size bed and pullout couch. Enjoy Egyptian cotton bedding & towels, down comforters and 3" memory foam toppers on all the beds. If you are a hunter and lucky enough to draw a permit for unit 250, feel free to use the game pole behind the cabin You will enjoy all the comforts of home with heavy leather sofas, satellite TV, internet, hardwood floors, wood burning stove, large rock fireplace, huge kitchen & living area, gazebo with fire pit & hammock, BBQ grill, covered front porch with swing, 5 person hot tub, flat panel TV, washer/dryer. If you find your party exceeds eight people, there is a detached bunkhouse that sleeps six in two sets of bunk beds plus a king size bed in a separate bedroom, couch, picnic table and kitchenette in the living area, plus a full bath and private deck for an additional $100/night plus $75 cleaning. The road is well kept in winter, allowing easy driving access to Lost Trail Ski Resort that offers great local skiing and snowboarding. You can walk to the West Fork River or Overwich Creek to fly fish as the sunsets. Explore 3,000 miles of Forest Service trails including the Magruder Corridor Wilderness Road that separates the 2.3 million acre Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness and the 1.3 million acre Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. Together these two wilderness areas make up the largest in the lower 48 states. Your trip must be booked on mutually agreeable dates and used within 1 year. Blackout dates are Memorial Day through the last weekend in July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Check in on Saturday or Sunday is required. A cleaning fee of $219 for 1 - 4 people in the main cabin. $269 for 5 - 8 people using the main and guest cabin. The fees cover cleaning and damage insurance premium. Donated by Gary & Laura Plum.
