Camp Bernie Annual Appeal 2020
2020 HAS BEEN A YEAR OF UNCERTAINTY, FEAR & CHANGE. THROUGHOUT THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, OUR Y HAS STOOD STRONG FOR OUR COMMUNITY IN THE FACE OF IT.
THROUGH OUR OAK STREET AND CAMP BERNIE BRANCHES WE IMMEDIATELY PIVOTED TO FOCUS ON HELPING THOSE IN NEED:
- Weekly food box distributions totaling around 2,500 boxes to date
- Emergency blood drives, potentially saving over 300 lives
- Safe family and small group recreation programs offered throughout the summer including horseback riding, archery and cabin rentals promoting physical and mental health
- Education and child care programs
- On-site virtual learning support providing a safe space for students to connect to their classrooms during virtual learning days
- Community outreach to our most vulnerable neighbors
- And as a space for ALL to learn, grow and thrive, we are proud to provide a platform for peaceful progress and unity in the fight against racism and social injustice. Through our bi-monthly YTALKS virtual town halls, we bring together voices to discuss how we can together affect positive change and achieve equality.
Now more than ever Camp Bernie needs you. Having been forced to cancel many Outdoor Education trips as well as our summer overnight camp programming, the tradition and of Camp Bernie hangs in the balance. Our only desire is to come back even stronger for our 2021 camp season, but we need your support to make it happen. Please consider making a gift of support today!
