1-day fly fishing for 1-2 people on the roaded section of the South Fork Boise with Matt Bower
Your choice:
full day float (May 31st through ~September 15th)
or
walk and wade (~September 15th through March 31st, 2022)
The South Fork of the Boise River's peak fishing season begins immediately on Memorial Day March 31st with large afternoon Caddis hatches and into the first 2 weeks of June a large Cicada hatch. Into latter June and early July, the fabled Salmon flies and Golden Stones begin to crawl out. Late July and early August brings the Pinks and start of the Hoppers.
The fall fishing brings a drop in water (usually around mid-September), making a float unnecessary. The fishing can be fantastic but challenging after the fish have been greatly pressured all summer. We would wade fish for the entire day, driving from run to run. The fish usually have seen enough foam patterns by then but a few more "natural" hopper patterns might get an eager player, but the small PMD, BWO, and FLAV mayflies hatch everyday and with an evening caddis hatch is almost guaranteed.
