About the Artist

I am a Boise-based artist with a long history of fly fishing, teaching and guiding.

As an avid fly fisherman and enthusiastic outdoor adventurer, my art is a reflection of my passions for being outside, be it on the river, on top of a mountain or breathing fresh air. My passion for outdoor endeavors also makes me an observant passerby of all things under an open sky. The art I create is both unique and personal because it combines my love of rivers, mountains and open spaces with an artistic focus on details. Like a snapshot, I like to capture a second in time that elicits a specific memory, such as the moment you tighten the line on a trophy fish.

My art includes original acrylic and watercolor paintings, pen and ink drawings and custom commissions of fish caught by people all over the world.

My artistic training combines a great deal of teaching myself along with a little academic training. I never really considered the idea of art as a career, so my focus was always on the fun of art. Even if I never considered an art major or thinking of a career in art, I continued my personal goal of educating myself in painting, drawing, ceramics and printmaking.

My interests beyond fishing include travel, and I've been fortunate to travel to over 50 countries around the world in search of both fish and adventure. I love the rivers in Idaho, exploring the backcountry, skiing in bounds and out of bounds, riding single track on my mountain bike, exploring new routes on my BMW GS 800 Adventure and teaching my 11 year old daughter sleeping under the stars is better than just about anything else a person can do.
