Columbia River Walleye Fishing for 4 out of Rufus

with Curt Currey Guide Service

Trip will be Wednesday May 12, 2021

Curt Currey has owned and operated Currey Guide Service since 2004. Curt focuses on Columbia River walleye out of Rufus, OR the third week of April through the second week of May. Curt trolls worm harnesses and bottom walkers out of his 24' Koffler sled boat for these amazing eating fish. Last season Curt had a couple of thirty plus fish days and a ten fish day. Yes, it's still called "fishing." Our largest walleye last season was 28.6" long. We release the large female walleye that have yet to spawn after we take a photo for your memories. By this time of year most of the females have already spawned.

Curt and most of his clients stay at the Rufus Hillview Inn, best described as a very comfortable and recently remodeled boutique motel. Within walking distance from the motel is a great spot for dinner and cocktails at Bob's Texas T-Bones and Frosty's Lounge. Across the street from Bob's is one of the most well stocked tackle shops you've ever been in, The Gorge Outfitters. A gas and diesel station along with a local market also services the town of Rufus.

Curt meets clients at 5:30am at the Celilo Park boat ramp just west of Rufus. We normally fish between seven and eight hours depending on how many fish I need to fillet at the end of the day. You will be sent home with you catch filleted and bagged ready for the fryer. Bob's (restaurant) will also fry up your catch for you for dinner that night if you call ahead.

Along with any fishery on the gorge wind can be a factor. Last year was a great year to get our days in as we only had to cancel one day due to wind and were able to fish full days for the rest of the trips. If we need to cancel due to wind we will reschedule your trip. If we are blown off after four hours of fishing you will receive credit towards another trip if purchased through an auction or you will only be charged for the hours fished.

Walleye are the best tasting fish I have ever eaten! If you are looking for a fun, hands on, no rod holder, feel the bite interactive day on the water you will enjoy this trip!
