The third grade project is titled, "Angel of God'' and is a 24 x 30 inch shadow box with a beautiful Angel made from disposable masks. She is surrounded by an arch of tie dyed fabric masks, each on e specially designed by a third grader. The Angel of God prayer is engraved into the wood. The art includes a lot of symbolism including the use of birch as the box. Birch is a resilient plant known to recover first from tragedy, offering a symbol of hope, rebirth, and new beginnings. The vibrant colors remind us of the stained glass windows of our Church. The world-wide pandemic brought masks into our lives, and the masks used in the project reminds us that God's protection and our masks have allowed us to return to in-person learning when many other schools did not. Each mask also includes the initials of the students in third grade, which symbolized the silver-lining of friendship and community.
