Artist Information:
Price calls painting her passion and art is a way for her to nurture her creative side. Her subject matter varies all over the board from flowers, landscapes, seascapes, architecture, figures, and animals. She rotates painting each of her genres to help to keep boredom at bay with her diverse subject matter. Kathryn's goal in each of her paintings is to capture some sort of emotion within every piece. One of her favorite quotations, "I do not literally paint that table, but the emotion it produces upon me - Henri Matisse." Kathryn enjoys several other hobbies including equestrian activities. She and her husband have box seats at the Iroquois Steeplechase and between her love of horses and her love to paint motion, she naturally progressed into painting race scenes. Kathryn thrives with new challenges and painting a race scene is full of them. The challenges include correctly positioning a horse and rider with other horses and other riders, then throwing in perspective, foreshortening, values, edges, and movement. Again, keeping all the challenges together then adding in her desire to paint emotion.
