La Parade

Hand-colored etching on Rives paper

After Marc Chagall (1887-1985)

Edition 36 of 50.

Size: 32" x 26" framed

Marc Chagall was a Russian-French artist and early modernist. He drew inspiration from the theme of the circus throughout his life, as he was captivated by its chaotic and colorful atmosphere.

The subject was etched under the direction of engraver P.B. Spalaikovitch in 1986 after a stone lithograph created by Chagall in 1980 entitled "La Parade au Cirque." The work was subsequently hand-colored and issued as a limited edition by Magui Publishers, who released the images in editions of 50.
