The Aspiration is Decomposition- 2 rolls of toilet paper. Dana Bishop-Root and Ginger Brooks Takahashi make up the artist collective General Sisters, founded in 2009 in Braddock, PA. Through their projects, they bring forward ongoing resistance to food apartheid and environmental racism. They are also interested in how traditional wastewater disposal systems interact with and harm the environment. In search of alternatives to environmentally detrimental infrastructure, the duo hopes to inspire viewers to build and utilize composting toilets. In this thought-provoking piece, the artists transform a roll of toilet paper into a work of conceptual art.
